We start the African Sahara Adventure Tour on the coast of Almuñécar, leaving the Mediterranean behind as we head into the heart of Andalusia. The route combines secondary roads and dirt tracks through mountains, valleys, and white villages — perfect for getting into the rhythm and enjoying the first taste of adventure.

In the afternoon we arrive in Antequera, a key crossroads in southern Spain and the ideal base for this first stage.

Hotel: Finca Eslava — A charming Andalusian hotel, well known for its hospitality and traditional cuisine. The perfect place to relax and get ready for the next day.

From Antequera we ride south towards Tarifa, the closest point to Africa. The route mixes dirt tracks and panoramic roads through mountains and open countryside until the Atlantic Ocean appears on the horizon.

Arriving in Tarifa marks the end of the European stage and the real beginning of the adventure towards Morocco and the Sahara.

Day three marks the real start of the African adventure. Early in the morning we take the ferry from Tarifa to Ceuta, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and leaving Europe behind. After border formalities, we enter Morocco and head towards Tetouan, where we begin riding the first Moroccan roads and tracks.

From there, we climb into the Rif Mountains, enjoying green landscapes, endless curves, and a completely different atmosphere, until we reach the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, one of the most special places in northern Morocco.

We leave behind the blue city of Chefchaouen and continue our journey towards the cultural heart of Morocco: Fez. Today’s ride takes us along panoramic roads and rural stretches that cross the Rif Mountains and the first wide plains of inland Morocco.

We ride through changing landscapes, small villages, and agricultural areas, feeling the authentic Moroccan atmosphere more and more with every kilometer. It’s a perfect day to enjoy the flow of the journey and the riding as we approach one of the country’s most fascinating imperial cities.

In the afternoon we arrive in Fez, home to an impressive medina and centuries of history that make it a true highlight of the tour.

We leave Fez behind and head south into the Middle Atlas, riding through wide valleys, mountain roads, and remote rural areas as the landscape becomes wilder and more dramatic. The route combines scenic asphalt with quieter stretches that lead us deep into the heart of the mountains.

As we gain altitude, the views open up to high plateaus and traditional Berber villages, until we finally reach Imilchil, a remote high-mountain village known for its raw beauty and authentic atmosphere. A true feeling of adventure in one of Morocco’s most untouched regions.

We leave the high mountains of Imilchil behind and ride one of Morocco’s most famous roads, a spectacular winding descent with endless curves and breathtaking views.

The route takes us through the impressive Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls line the narrow road. From here, the landscape opens up and slowly transforms from green valleys into dry plains as we head towards the desert.

By the afternoon we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes, the gateway to the Sahara and one of the highlights of the adventure.

We leave the Sahara behind and head north through the famous Plateau de Rekkam, a vast high plain offering spectacular riding conditions with stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains. Overnight in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas mountains.

What kind of motorcycle license do I need for this tour?

You need a valid motorcycle license that allows you to ride motorcycles above 500cc. International Driving Permits are recommended for non-EU riders. We'll need to see your original license before the tour begins.

What riding gear should I bring?

We recommend bringing your own motorcycle gear including: a helmet, motorcycle jacket and pants with protective armor, motorcycle boots, gloves, and eye protection. Optional items include neck brace, knee braces, and a hydration pack. For desert riding, a dust mask or bandana is essential.

How physically demanding is this tour?

While the tour is suitable for all levels of riders, it does require a moderate level of physical fitness. You'll be riding 6-8 hours daily across various terrains. The most challenging sections are the mountain passes and some desert areas, but our guides will help less experienced riders navigate these sections safely.

What happens if I have a mechanical issue or accident during the tour?

Our support vehicle carries spare parts and tools for common repairs. Our guides are trained in basic motorcycle maintenance and first aid. In case of a serious mechanical issue, we can transport your motorcycle while you ride in the support vehicle. For medical emergencies, we have protocols in place to reach the nearest medical facilities quickly.

Do I need a visa to enter Morocco?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Many Western countries (including EU, US, Canada, Australia) don't require visas for stays under 90 days. We recommend checking the latest requirements with the Moroccan embassy in your country before booking. We can provide documentation to support your visa application if needed.
