Frequently Asked Questions
What clothing is recommended for this tour?
From October to June, additional layers are essential for the ascent to Sierra Nevada. Temperatures can be significantly colder at higher altitudes, even when coastal conditions are warm.
Is there ice on the morning descents from Sierra Nevada?
Yes, which is why we schedule departures at 10:00. This allows the morning sun to melt any overnight ice formations on the roads, ensuring optimal safety for all motorcyclists.
What temperatures can we expect in the Gorafe Desert?
The Gorafe Desert presents a drastically different climate to Sierra Nevada, with temperature differentials approaching 20°C. While Sierra Nevada remains cool due to the altitude, the Gorafe Desert can reach considerable heat, particularly during the summer months.
How should we ride in dry desert conditions?
Maintain a generous distance from the rider in front to improve visibility and protect your motorcycle's components. This technique is crucial in the dry desert terrain, where suspended dust can significantly reduce visibility.
Do I need extra water for the desert segment?
No, as this section only lasts approximately two hours and we have a refuelling point just 5 km before entering the desert area.
Can dietary requirements be catered for?

Esperienza straordinaria!

What riding gear should I bring?
We recommend bringing your own motorcycle gear including: a helmet, motorcycle jacket and pants with protective armour, motorcycle boots, gloves, and eye protection. Optional items include neck brace, knee braces, and a hydration pack. For desert riding, a dust mask or bandana is essential.
How physically demanding is this tour?
While the tour is suitable for all levels of riders, it does require a moderate level of physical fitness. You'll be riding 6-8 hours daily across various terrains. The most challenging sections are the mountain passes and some desert areas, but our guides will help less experienced riders navigate these sections safely.

We ascend inland for an authentic Andalusian lunch at the Hotel Restaurante El Guerra, in the heart of the Granadian mountains. Here we will enjoy local dishes (such as garlic kid or migas) with fresh ingredients from the area. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the valley while we eat.

FAQs
I don't have much experience, is this tour suitable for beginners?
Yes! This one-day tour is designed for riders of all levels. The roads are in good condition and not technically difficult. The pace is set by the guide and they will make stops to wait for the least experienced participant, and the guide will give you tips along the way to build your confidence. If you are an absolute beginner, let us know and we can offer you a brief practice session before setting off.
Is the rental motorcycle included in the price?
Yes, the motorcycle is included in the base rate of €250. We have rental motorcycles available (300 to 890 cc trail models). For example, we can offer you the KTM 390 /890 R Adventure - just let us know when booking.
What happens if it rains on the day of the tour?
The Tropical Coast has over 300 sunny days a year, so it's unlikely. In case of light rain, we put on waterproofs and continue safely - often in the mountains the cloud passes quickly and the sun comes back out. If there were really adverse conditions (heavy storm), we could delay the departure by a couple of hours (as the days are long and flexible) or, as a last resort, reschedule for the next available day. We want you to have the best possible experience.
I loved the tour, how can I sign up for one of multiple days?
We're glad to hear that! Our guides will have mentioned options - we offer a 5% discount for day-tour participants who book to extend for one or more days, with the option to add a day of skiing in Sierra Nevada or visit the World Heritage city of Granada and schedule a visit to its star monument, the Alhambra.
You can also check our catalogue (Andalusia, Morocco, Pyrenees) and plan your next adventure. If you wish, we can even adapt a multi-day private tour for you and your friends, combining routes you've already done with new ones. The sky's the limit!
Testimonials:
1
Jorge P., Colombia
"I only had one free day on my trip to Spain and this tour was perfect. I was able to see the best views of the Tropical Coast in just a few hours. The guide was very friendly and knew a lot of history; he made stops at secret viewpoints and even showed us an old watchtower. The Goat Road (we didn't know it was called that) was great fun, curves and more curves with the sea below. The food at the mountain restaurant was authentic, not touristy. Highly recommended 100%."
2
Andrea W., Germany
"I had never ridden a motorcycle in Spain and wasn't sure what to expect. It was amazing! We did spontaneous snorkelling in a hidden cove that the guide knew about, something I never would have found on my own. I felt safe the whole time. My favourite part: the climb to the cliffs above La Herradura, the view takes your breath away, blue all around. A very well-spent day, now I want to come back for a longer tour."
3
Manuel R., Spain
"A small group, personalised treatment. I went with my 18-year-old son as a passenger and we both had a great time. He especially enjoyed the San Miguel Castle and the stories of pirates on the coast. The route is very well thought out, with frequent stops. The Tropical Coast lives up to its name: mangoes, avocados, a warm climate even in November... For me, it was nostalgic to ride these roads where I learned to drive as a young man. Thanks for a memorable experience."

After visiting this incredible rock town, we will continue to test your skills on technical trails through the pristine Sierra de las Nieves National Park. Frequently Asked Questions
Can I do this tour with my partner as a passenger?
Yes, it is possible. Many of the routes are on good quality asphalt and the accommodations are comfortable for two people. Keep in mind that the difficulty level is intermediate-advanced, so the rider must have sufficient experience to handle the tight curves with a passenger. We offer bikes with adjusted suspension for duo riding.
Do I need to carry luggage on the motorcycle?
No, the support vehicle will transport your main luggage between hotels. You will only need to carry the essentials for the day (water, camera, documents) on the bike. This makes your riding lighter and safer. Every afternoon, you will find your suitcases waiting for you in your hotel room.
What happens if it rains during the route?
The route runs through predominantly dry areas, especially Tarifa and Málaga. In the event of moderate rain, we will continue with the necessary precautions - make sure to bring waterproof clothing. If there are severe conditions (heavy storm), the guide may adjust the itinerary or schedules to wait for the weather to improve, always prioritising the safety of the group.
I'm vegetarian/vegan, will I be able to eat well on this tour?
Of course. For each included dinner, we notify the restaurants and hotels in advance to prepare vegetarian, vegan or adapted options to any dietary requirements. Andalusia offers delicious dishes of vegetables, legumes and tropical fruits that you can enjoy. Your gastronomic satisfaction is guaranteed.
What is the alcohol policy during the tour?
For safety reasons, no more than one beer should be consumed during lunch, although we recommend not consuming alcohol during the riding day.

FAQs
What type of motorcycle is recommended for this route?
We have two types of KTM Adventure bikes that are ideal for the mixed roads of Andalusia. If you're looking for a lighter and lower bike, we have the 390 R, and if you want more performance, the 890 R.
What equipment should I bring for the route?
It is essential to bring: helmet, jacket and trousers with protections, gloves, motorcycle boots, and sun protection. We also recommend a lightweight waterproof layer in case of unexpected rain in the mountainous areas. The rest of the luggage will travel in the support van.
How many non-riding companions can I bring?
On this specific route, a maximum of two non-riding companions are allowed in the support van per group. This is to ensure sufficient space for luggage and the necessary technical equipment during the tour.
What level of riding is required for the off-road sections?
The off-road sections are of low to medium difficulty, suitable even for beginners with some experience. They consist mainly of compacted dirt tracks and some shallow river crossings. The guide always adapts the pace to the group's level and offers technical advice when needed.
Is it possible to bring my own motorcycle for this tour?
Yes, we offer a motorcycle rental service specifically prepared for this route. But we also consider this possibility and will deduct 100€ per day from this concept.

"As a Canadian rider used to vast open roads, the twisty mountain passes of Andalusia were an exciting challenge! The white villages were like something from a postcard, and El Torcal's rock formations left me speechless. My partner joined as a non-rider in the support vehicle and had an equally amazing experience. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate about showing us the real Andalusia. Welcome to the Canary archipelago and first motorcycle adventure. Arrival at the KTM Valsebike dealership to collect the motorcycles and sign contracts. Welcome meeting with the team of guides where the detailed itinerary of the week will be explained and any questions will be resolved. We will immediately start our first adventure towards the impressive mountains of Gran Canaria, with the iconic Roque Nublo, a natural monument and symbol of the island at 1,813 metres altitude, as our destination. On the route we will also visit the Caldera de Tejeda and the Pico de las Nieves, the highest point on the island. Return to Las Palmas at sunset to enjoy a welcome dinner where you will meet the rest of the group while enjoying the local cuisine.

Upon arrival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, we will begin our adventure by crossing laurel forests, a unique ecosystem considered a relic of the Tertiary period. We will climb winding trails up to 2,400 metres altitude on the slopes of Teide, the highest peak in Spain. The panoramic views and changes in landscape will leave you breathless as we explore the most iconic landscapes of the island. We will descend towards the west coast to stay at the magnificent Barceló Santiago Hotel, located next to the impressive cliffs of Los Gigantes, where you can relax in its pools with ocean views of La Gomera island.

An unforgettable experience. The landscapes between Spain and Portugal are impressive, and the routes are perfectly planned to enjoy both the riding and the surroundings. Our guide Miguel was exceptional, always attentive to our needs and with a deep knowledge of the area. The hotels exceeded my expectations, especially the one in Álora with its Michelin-starred restaurant. I will definitely repeat!

I loved the combination of coastal and mountain routes, as well as the local gastronomy. The Portuguese pousadas are charming and the group atmosphere was great. A complete adventure that I would recommend to any motorcycle enthusiast.

The routes are very well balanced between technical and scenic sections. The crossing through Doñana and its dunes was simply spectacular. The organisation is impeccable, from luggage transport to technical assistance. The accommodations are of high quality and the guide's gastronomic recommendations were always spot on.

Customer Reviews
Frequently Asked Questions
What level of experience do I need to do this tour?
To fully enjoy the Transpyrenean, we recommend having prior experience in off-road riding and a medium-high level of piloting. The route includes technical sections in mountainous terrain, forest tracks and some sections that require good technique. It is not suitable for absolute beginners, but riders with moderate experience and good physical condition can complete it satisfactorily.
What type of motorcycle is most suitable for this route?
Trail or adventure motorcycles are the most recommended for this route. KTM Adventure, CF Moto 450 or similar work perfectly. The motorcycle must be in good mechanical condition, with tyres suitable for mixed terrain (50/50 or 60/40 road/off-road). We recommend additional protections such as sump guards, engine guards and crash bars.
How does the luggage transport work during the tour?
We have a support vehicle that transports your main luggage between the hotels each day. You will only need to carry the essentials for the day (water, some snacks, documentation, basic items). This allows you to travel lighter and enjoy the riding more. The support vehicle also carries basic tools and some common spare parts.
What happens in case of a breakdown or mechanical problem during the route?
Our guide and the support vehicle are equipped to solve basic mechanical problems on the route. For more serious breakdowns, we have contact with specialised workshops along the route. In extreme cases where the motorcycle cannot continue, we arrange transport to the nearest point for repair. Therefore, we recommend having an assistance insurance that covers this type of eventuality.
How do the motorcycles work for this tour?
In our adventures, we primarily provide the motorcycles to all participants. We have a fleet of perfectly equipped and maintained models for this type of route. Cases where the client brings their own motorcycle are sporadic, although we offer this option for those who prefer to use their personal vehicle. The indicated base price may be adjusted according to the chosen option, so we recommend checking the specific rates for each modality when booking.
Do the alternative tours have the same conditions as the Transpyrenean?
All our tours maintain the same quality standard in terms of guides, support vehicle and services, but each one has particular characteristics depending on the terrain, region and duration. The Morocco and Spain-Portugal tours include assistance with border formalities, while the Andalusia Circuit offers greater emphasis on cultural and gastronomic aspects. Please consult us for specific details of each tour.

Itinerary
1
Day 1: Barcelona (Spain) to Andorra – 250 km
We start by ascending the magnificent Catalan Pyrenees. Master the hairpin turns climbing towards Andorra, a small mountain country. On the way, we enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea that we are leaving behind. After ~250 km of curves and wooded landscapes, we arrive in Andorra la Vella. Accommodation at the
Sport Hotel Andorra, with a spa to relax after the intense 250 km day.
2
Day 2: Andorra – French Pyrenees – 220 km
Challenge your skills on the legendary Col du Tourmalet in France, famous for the Tour de France. We cover 220 km between green valleys and charming alpine villages. The landscape of the French Pyrenees impresses with its pristine beauty. Overnight in a French rural lodge, where we enjoy traditional Occitan cuisine for dinner.
3
Day 3: Spanish Pyrenees – 210 km
We return to Spanish territory to explore the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, crossing the spectacular Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. The narrow roads take us through lush valleys flanked by limestone cliffs. 210 km of pure natural wonder and timeless villages. Rest in a mountain inn with starry views.
4
Days 4-5: French Alps – ~280 km/day
Welcome to the Alps. We enter France again to ride the iconic Route des Grandes Alpes, considered one of Europe's most spectacular mountain roads. Between days 4 and 5 you will cover around 280 km per day, crossing legendary passes (Iseran, Galibier, etc.), crystal-clear alpine lakes and the imposing Mont Blanc watching over the horizon. We stay overnight in Chamonix, in an elegant alpine lodge, and the next day we cross into Italy via the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard. Second accommodation in an Italian village in the Aosta Valley.
5
Day 6: Italian Alps – 260 km
We cross into the Italian alpine heart to experience the impressive Aosta Valley. We navigate the legendary Colle del Nivolet with its 40 hairpins (tight turns) and breathtaking views of high-altitude lakes. 260 km of pure riding enjoyment on perfect tarmac. We savor Italian mountain cuisine (pasta and polenta!) at a picturesque lunch. We spend the night in a cozy Italian alpine refuge surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
6
Day 7 (Optional): Swiss Alps – 240 km
Optional extra day: For those who want the full alpine experience, we add a day in Switzerland. You will conquer the legendary Grimsel and Furka passes in the heart of the Swiss Alps. In 240 km, this optional route rewards you with views of gleaming glaciers and alpine meadows. We finish in a Swiss chalet in Zermatt with views of the Matterhorn. (If the 7-day standard option is chosen, this day is omitted and the tour ends in Italy.)
What's Included
Recommended Equipment
Local Attractions
Take the opportunity to admire the Mont Blanc up close (the highest peak in Western Europe) from Chamonix. In Andorra, you can do tax-free shopping in its mountain boutiques. In Switzerland, don't miss the glaciers and electric blue lakes visible from the high passes. Each day we select special viewpoints and photo spots to capture unforgettable moments.
Technical Requirements
Advanced riding skills are recommended to maneuver tight turns (hairpins) and variable surfaces at altitude. Although we will mainly be on tarmac, some alpine roads have rough or narrow asphalt. An adventure or touring motorcycle in good condition, with excellent tires, is essential (we can facilitate the rental of a BMW R1250GS or similar). You should feel comfortable riding for several hours a day and managing fatigue at altitude - we plan frequent breaks to acclimatize.
Weather Conditions
The main passes are usually open from mid-May to early October. The best conditions are in June and September, with less traffic and mild weather. Keep in mind that in the high mountains the weather can change in minutes - you may find radiant sunshine in the valley and fog or even light snow at a high pass. That's why we insist on layered clothing and an early start each day to avoid the frequent summer afternoon storms.
What if the weather is very adverse at a mountain pass?
Our guides closely monitor the weather. If a mountain pass is closed due to bad weather (unexpected snow, heavy storm), we will adapt the route that day for your safety, possibly taking a lower-altitude tunnel or alternative pass. We carry GPS with backup routes. We also usually schedule early morning departures to take advantage of stable weather and avoid the common afternoon storms in summer. Your safety is our priority; we will never risk you in dangerous conditions.
Can I bring a passenger on this tour?
Yes, as long as you have experience riding with a passenger. Many couples enjoy this tour - the support van can carry the extra luggage of both for greater comfort. We recommend high-displacement motorcycles for two people (rental available of BMW R1250GS with comfort seat, for example). Keep in mind that the days are long and somewhat demanding; both must be in good physical condition. A guide in the van can also pick up a passenger if they wish to skip a particularly demanding stretch (e.g. extreme turns), so flexibility is guaranteed.
What is the maximum altitude we will reach?
Approximately 2,770 m asl at the Col de l'Iseran (French Alps) if included in the route, or 2,430 m asl in Andorra (Port d'Envalira). These altitudes can cause mild altitude sickness in some (slight headache or fatigue). That's why we maintain a moderate pace on the high passes and encourage drinking plenty of water (stay constantly hydrated). Our motorcycles are prepared for altitude, although you may notice a slight power reduction at the highest passes - nothing serious, just open the throttle a bit more!
How do they manage the different traffic laws in so many countries?
Before entering each country, the guide will briefly explain the key rules (speed limits, peculiarities). For example, in France the generic limit is 80 km/h on secondary roads; in Switzerland, it is mandatory to have a motorway vignette (we will have one just in case); in Italy, watch out for average speed cameras. Our support vehicle and guide are on top of these regulations. We also have optional intercoms to alert the group of any situation on the road.
Testimonials

Mark T., USA
"This trip fulfilled a lifelong dream. Riding from the Mediterranean to the Alps was even more stunning than I imagined. The guides were absolute pros – when one of the high passes had a surprise late snowfall, they rerouted us seamlessly through a valley with views just as beautiful. Highlights for me: ripping up the Col du Tourmalet in the Pyrenees and carving through the hairpins of Stelvio (we added an extra day to do it!). I came home a more confident rider. Worth every penny."
2
Ramón E., Spain
"I had never done such a long motorcycle tour and was a bit nervous, but it was wonderful! The guides gave me so much confidence. Climbing the Col du Galibier under a clear blue sky, with those snowfields around, made me feel on top of the world. And in the evenings, delicious dinners: raclette in the French Alps, homemade pizza in Italy... Excellent balance between riding and sightseeing. I'm already looking at what other tour to do with you."
3
Linda K., UK
"What a ride! We did the 10-day version including Switzerland. The scenery was out of this world – we have hundreds of photos of snow-capped peaks, lakes, and our bikes at famous summit signs. Staying in Zermatt with a view of the Matterhorn was a bucket list item checked off. And I can't say enough about the team: they handled everything, so we just focused on enjoying the ride. I was worried about potential language issues, but our guide switched between Spanish, English, French with ease. Highly recommend this tour if you want serious mountains!"

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of motorcycle is used for this route?
For the Andalusia route we mainly use BMW R1250GS and KTM 890 Adventure motorcycles, perfectly adapted to enjoy the paved roads with maximum comfort and safety. All our bikes are kept in perfect condition and are thoroughly checked before each departure. If you have a preference for a specific model, let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
What equipment should I bring for the route?
We recommend bringing your own complete protective equipment: helmet, jacket and trousers with protectors, gloves, specific motorcycle boots and, optionally, back protection. For routes in the winter season or in the Sierra Nevada sections, it is advisable to bring thermal layers and waterproof clothing. If you do not have all the equipment or prefer to travel light, we offer a basic equipment rental service for an additional cost.
What is the difficulty level of this route?
The Andalusia route is designed to be accessible to riders of all levels, with a focus on enjoying high-quality paved roads. The most technical sections are in the mountain areas, especially in Sierra Nevada, but they are always manageable for anyone with basic motorcycle riding experience. Our guides adapt the pace to the level of the group, ensuring that everyone enjoys the experience safely.
What happens if there is bad weather during the route?
In case of adverse weather conditions, we have alternative routes prepared to maximise safety and enjoyment. Andalusia has a privileged climate, but in the event of heavy rain or snowfall in Sierra Nevada, we can modify the itinerary to avoid the most complicated sections. Safety is our priority, so we always make decisions based on the conditions at the time and the weather forecast.
Are the tourist visits included in the price?
The base price includes the organisation of visits to the main points of interest during the scheduled stops. Entrance fees to specific monuments such as the Alhambra in Granada are not included, but we can arrange them in advance if the participants request it. We recommend booking in advance for popular attractions like the Alhambra, as they often have limited availability, especially during high season.
